Turmeric Pina Colada Smoothie

Turmeric Piña Colada Smoothie

This Turmeric Piña Colada Smoothie is a dream come true. We’re at the beginning of those hot summer months, and who can pass up a cold, sweet, pineapple- and coconut-flavored drink? Not me! And this one is even better than your typical poolside beverage, because it’s loaded with anti-inflammatory properties, like turmeric and cinnamon. Plus, no refined sugar. Count me in.

For those of us who don’t have a summer break and likely won’t be jet-setting to an exotic location or relaxing poolside for the next couple of months, this is the next big thing to a beachside getaway. And if you ARE jet-setting to a tropical hideaway, more power to you! But you should still make this smoothie before you go.

So let me be real here. There are a lot of people who are big-time smoothie-makers. They make delicious concoctions regularly and have a strong connection with their blender. I am not one of those people. My blender is great (I have a Ninja, and it is pretty darn fantastic). But it’s also on the top shelf of my kitchen cabinet. And I’m also not a huge fan of washing big appliances. Or using big appliances to make 1-2 servings of something that’s not going to last the entire week. So there’s that. With that said, when I do find a good reason to use it, it better be good. And this Turmeric Piña Colada Smoothie is a good reason to use it.

The magic ingredient that takes this smoothie to a whole new level (worthy of pulling out your blender) is Further Food’s Daily Turmeric Tonic. I found them by accident, and I couldn’t be happier for that. Their Turmeric Tonic is basically all the superfoods you try to incorporate in your diet daily, without going to the trouble of having to buy each ingredient separately. Organic turmeric? It’s got that. Ginger root? It’s got that. Cardamom, black pepper, and cinnamon? Yep. Better yet, it has two superstar adaptogenic herbs that promote healing and are naturally anti-inflammatory: schisandra and boswellia.

And since I’m SUCH a fangirl of their Turmeric Tonic and collagen peptides, here’s a discount code to take 10% off your first order: DEBORAHNOEL10

the process

Making this Turmeric Piña Colada Smoothie really doesn’t require a whole lot of directions. And personally, I’m okay with that. I like recipes where it doesn’t matter what order you add ingredients in, the exact type of ingredients, or how frequently you stir or blend something. I know there are some people who love the paint-by-numbers approach to cooking and making meals, but I love when there’s room for improvisation.

So with that said, don’t worry about what order you add these ingredients to your blender and don’t fret if you’re missing an ingredient. As long as you have the basic ratio here, it will come out just fine and just as tasty.
